We don’t often get the chance to say this, dear reader, but… “The heat is on!”. Just a few days into October and the maximum temperature has touched 36 degrees. At the height of summer when pavements are burning, air conditioners are on high and tempers are higher, what do you do to stay cool? Octacentric gives you a few simple but effective ways to beat the heat this summer:

Dress appropriately: The easiest and smartest thing to do is to dress for the heat. Feel free to put on your long-sleeved tops/shirts and tight churidar pants that will soak up all your sweat. A thick leather jacket zipped to the top should keep away any sun rays that will affect your skin.

Drink right: avoid drinking cool or cold water. “What???” you ask? Well, the body has trouble adjusting to the temperature and loses more energy when you drink things that are cold. So go in for hot drinks like tea, coffee and alcohol to reduce your discomfort.

Eat right: Eat large, heavy and oily meals. This should increase internal heat so you won’t mind the external heat too much.

Hot showers and warm water towels: The first part of this tip is self-explanatory but warm water towels??? Rumor is that placing warm water towels on appropriate parts of your body keeps your body temperature warm and accustomed to the heat around you.

Watch for signals: If, after you try the above "beat the heat" tips, you experience heavy sweating, red skin, headache, nausea or vomiting, dizziness, weak pulse, rapid or shallow breathing, then we suggest you ignore any further tips from us and contact the nearest emergency medical office or the India Meteorological Department.

And speaking of heat, we got a flood of fiery mails last month for skipping the last edition of Octacentric. We are truly touched by all the abusive mails you sent us faithful readers. It shows how much you missed us.  But we just couldn’t help it as you can see below how our branding team was all tied up
